2019 DRUM FENG SINGAPORE

ABOUT

Drum Feng is a young group of well-trained and disciplined percussionists who perform well-known traditional Chinese percussion pieces as well as Japanese “taiko-inspired” and self-written works. Drum Feng uses both traditional and modern percussion instruments in their repertoires, and incorporates the use of “lightshow” elements to put on a visually impactful performance that displays showmanship, musicality and passion at their finest.

DRUM FENG, is a Singapore-based percussion ensemble group that mainly specializes in traditional Chinese and Japanese “Taiko-inspired” and self-written ensemble pieces. Officially established in 2018, the group comprises of young and passionate percussionists that uses traditional Chinese percussion instruments for their “fusion-style” performances. The group seeks to put on a visually-impactful performance that displays their spirit, musicality and technical ability – the drumming philosophy of DRUM FENG.


In 2017, DRUM FENG participated in their first-ever music competition at the Nanyang International Music Competition under the “Non-Professional Open Category” and won the Gold Award, finishing 3rd overall. 
The group also collaborated with Warner Brothers Pictures and famed music composer, Harry Gregson-Williams to produce and record movie soundtracks for the Hollywood Blockbuster movie, “The Meg” in 2018.
At present in 2019, DRUM FENG is one of three representative arts groups at the Singapore Chinese Cultural Centre promoting the performing arts to the community in Singapore.  

DRUM FENG’s logo represents the drumming philosophy of DRUM FENG and is derived from combining 3 different Chinese characters all pronounced as “FENG”. 
The First "Feng" means Wind, which transits to Motion; the belief in precise movement and synchronization.
The second "Feng" means Peak; the mastery of one's technique fused with passion in order to deliver.
The third and Final "Feng" means Spirit; to portray an exhilarating and awe-inspiring display to astound and captivate our audiences.
